From Initiative to Organization

Before becoming a registered organization, Almassar began as a youth-led initiative in Sudan in 2020.
In North Darfur — specifically at Abu Shouk IDP Camp — the founding members, in partnership with youth from the Wadi Al-Naaman Forum, organized a series of dialogue forums to promote peace, community participation, and the empowerment of women and youth.
These photos document the early journey of Almassar, reflecting its roots in working directly with displaced communities and its continued commitment to supporting women and youth for lasting peace.
This experience laid the foundation for Almassar’s current programs.
